POP LEGENDS RELIVED

Through a special night of entertainment

Live from the InterContinental London O2 from 6.30pm on Friday until the early hours of Saturday morning, Railway Ball’s Idols and Icons show marked the pinnacle of this year’s fundraising activities for Railway Children, with a special night of entertainment to raise money for vulnerable children and young people right here in the UK, as well in India, East Africa.

The O2 is renowned as a music destination  and just down the road at the new luxury InterContinental O2, a guest list of a thousand plus UK rail executives filled the Ballroom, the size of a football pitch.

Icons and Idols took all the pop industry greats paying homage to the likes of Bowie, Prince, Madonna and Queen.  Always on trend this year’s surprize performance was the Ball’s special take of the hit TV show Lip Sync Battle.  Stellar performances of Meatloaf (Piers Wood, Alstom), Cher (Debbie Francis, DRS) and Gladys Knight and The Pips (Robbie Burns, Stuart Birrell, James Pritchard and Paul Stanford, Network Rail) brought the house down.

The Ball’s X Factor production values, comprising four satellite stages and a main stage, meant the days of any tables having poor sightlines seem like a distant memory.

With Trump in the White House and a whole gambit of Pop Icons to bring to life the role of Compere was tailor made for hilarious Jon Culshaw.

Tickets for 2017 Railway Ball are now on sale.
