Balfour Beatty is pulling all the stops out to support the Railway Ball. Visit a quarry at Carnforth in the beautiful Lake District and push the button to detonate an explosion. Then watch as thousands of tonnes of rock come crashing down. This is a unique opportunity, to not only be present at one of these spectacular explosions, but to actually MAKE AND FEEL IT HAPPEN!
Balfour Beatty will arrange to collect you from the local train station and escort you to and from the Blast! You will get a guided tour of the quarry to see and appreciate the scale of the operations that take place there.
In addition, Balfour Beatty will film the occasion for posterity and for you to share with your friends and remind you of the event. They will also throw in some Balfour Beatty Rock as a souvenir!

Blasts are fairly frequent in the quarry and vary in size. However as a Railway Ball auction lot, Balfour Beatty is saving a big one for you!
The offer is being made by Balfour Beatty in conjunction with their supply chain partner Armstrong. Armstrong are supplying Balfour Beatty with “rock armour” with individual rocks weighing up to 10 tonnes for use on one of the biggest coastal defence schemes being built in the country at Rossall on the Fylde Coast for Wyre Council.
You could link this with a short break or visit to the Lake District and make it a real occasion.
