£600K RAISED AT THE RAILWAY BALL 2025

Rail industry’s big night raises £600k for Railway Children

It was a scene straight out of a period drama. On Friday 28 November, the ballroom shimmered under chandeliers as guests stepped into a Bridgerton-inspired world – a stately home brought to life in celebration of 200 years of UK rail. But behind the glamour, the purpose was clear: to protect vulnerable children who find themselves alone on streets and transport networks.

The Railway Ball 2025 didn’t just deliver spectacle. It has a real impact. In a year when fundraising was tougher than ever, the industry rose to the challenge, raising an astonishing £600,000 for Railway Children-smashing the forecast and proving that rail’s reach goes far beyond the tracks.

Railway Ball stats
– £600,000 raised for Railway Children
– 1,300 guests from across the UK rail sector
– 219 auction lots donated and bid on
– 200 years of UK rail celebrated in Bridgerton style

“It’s more than a party-it’s a lifeline”

Angie Doll, Chair of The Railway Ball Committee and CEO of GTR, captured the mood: “This isn’t just a party. It’s a lifeline for children who need urgent help. Seeing the industry unite with such passion and generosity was incredible. It shows what we can achieve together.”

For Railway Children, the funds mean hope where there was none. Rob Capener, the charity’s CEO, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support that the rail industry has shown once again. To raise such an incredible sum of money is life changing for vulnerable children across the UK, India and Tanzania and will help us to preserve frontline services.”

Alex Hynes, Director General, Rail Services, Department for Transport and long-standing patron, added: “The Railway Ball is unique. It reminds us that rail isn’t just about tracks and trains, it’s about people, and the power of this industry to change lives.”

A night to remember

From the Bridgerton theme to the high-energy auctions, the evening was a masterclass in creativity and collaboration. Guests bid on over 200 auction lots, from luxury experiences to rail memorabilia, while enjoying entertainment that transported them back to the Regency era. The atmosphere was proof that when rail comes together, it does so in style.

The success of the night was made possible by the commitment of sponsors across the industry. Worldline led the way as Gold Sponsor, while Colas Rail and BT provided vital support as Silver Sponsors; demonstrating how corporate partnerships can drive meaningful change.

The countdown to 2026 starts now

The success of 2025 sets the stage for an even bigger celebration next year. The Railway Ball 2026 will return on Friday 27 November 2026, and tickets are already on sale at early bird rates.

Tables, sponsorship packages and auction opportunities are available now, offering companies and individuals the chance to be part of the rail industry’s most anticipated night and to support a cause that changes lives across the UK, India and Tanzania.
