The Railway Ball Unveils Its Star-Studded Committee
The Railway Ball, the much-anticipated annual fundraiser in support of Railway Children, is thrilled to roll out the red carpet for our newest patrons and committee members. These remarkable individuals bring a wealth of experience and passion to the Ball, furthering its mission to support vulnerable children and families.
Department of Transport Backs the Ball
Department for Transport’s Alex Hynes has kindly accepted the role of Patron. His commitment is a reflection of his long-term support for Railway Children commenting. “As a Patron of The Railway Ball, I am honoured to contribute to the vital work of Railway Children. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
Former Ball Chair, Dyan Perry OBE remains actively involved and has transitioned to the role of Patron. Dyan’s unwavering commitment to Railway Children continues to inspire us all.
Dyan and Alex will be joining fellow Patrons: Andy Lord (TfL), Darren Caplan (Rail Industry Association), Lisa Coleman (Worldline), Andrew Haines (Network Rail) and Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill, of Imber in the County of Wiltshire (Network Rail).
Nine Fresh Faces on the Committee
As for the Ball committee, nine new members boost its ranks.
“The Railway Ball embodies the spirit of collaboration and progress. I look forward to supporting this remarkable event and its impact on vulnerable communities.” Commented new member Martin Tugwell, CEO, Transport for the North.
Nina Lockwood, representing Intuitive Talent Solutions, brings her SME perspective to the Ball. As a networking event, she recognises it’s unique value: “The Railway Ball is more than just an industry gathering; it’s a place where rail professionals converge, share ideas, and forge connections. Nowhere else can you meet such a diverse group of experts under one roof.”
In addition to these new recruits, other new members joining Martin and Nina are Harj Athwal (EY), Stuart Meek (South Western Railway), Emma Head (HS2), Neil Robertson (NSAR), Stefan Rose (Porterbrook), Antony Smith (Independent Rail Retailers Association), and Richard Thorp (HS1).
Furthermore, heartfelt gratitude is extended to Mark Hopwood, CEO of GWR, who steps into the position of Ball Chair. Mark, along with our dedicated vice chairs (Sir Michael Holden, Angie Doll, Govia Thameslink Railway, and James Bain, Worldline) and treasurer (Debbie Francis OBE, Loram UK), will lead the charge in making this year’s Railway Ball a resounding success.
The Railway Ball remains committed to its mission of transforming lives through rail industry support.
We’d love to have you join us at this year’s event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make connections and kickstart positive change.
